Green Cleaning Products
Most household cleaning products contain strong chemicals that are not only dangerous to kids and pets, but also can be damaging to certain surfaces and certainly to your skin. Switching to green cleaners will save you money, ensure a healthy home and keep your family safe.
Step 1: There are three basic ingredients that can help you clean every corner of your home: white vinegar, baking soda and tee tree oil. Baking soda can be combined with powder laundry detergent to use as a scrubber (good for tiles, metal and ceramic surfaces), or with vinegar to get rid of stubborn stains and strong odors. Tee tree oil is antiseptic, antibacterial and germicidal, so it can be used in the kitchen and bathroom to get rid of germs and bacteria. Tea tree oil will also kill mold a lot better than most commercial products.
Step 2: Don't be afraid to use lots of water. Warm water will kill germs better than cold water. Change the water once it gets dirty so you're not simply spreading the germs to a different area. Use clean warm water to rinse after cleaning.
Step 3: Mix ingredients in a spray bottle if possible, as the pressure from the spray will get the liquids into the stains better and will help loosen up the grime.
Step 4: You can polish furniture by mixing vinegar with olive oil and using a cleaning cloth or rag to wipe the mix onto the wood. Dark woods can be re-stained using wet tea bags.
Step 5: To get rid of odors and clean the air in your home, try cloves, placing a peeled orange on a dish or boiling cinnamon. Sprinkling your carpet with baking soda before vacuuming can help absorb odors, and keeping plants around will filter the air. Open the windows if the weather allows to clear the air as well. The Bully Wipe cleaning cloth is made from 100% plant-based fibers!
