Quick Remedies For Difficult Stains
The nastiest of stains require immediate action. To leave them over night could possibly spell doom for your cherished garment. Berry stains are one example of a menace to clothing, even when using cleaning products.
To combat this, stretch the stained fabric tightly over a bucket and use clothespins to keep it tightly in place. Next, boil a tea kettle of water and then from a height of about 10 inches or more pour directly onto the stain.
Mustard and ketchup stains can be removed by immediately putting some dishwashing detergent on the stain with warm water. Allow the stain to soak for an hour before washing.
For stains composed of mud, allow the mud to dry then gently brush the mud off. Next, using cold water, soak the garment with a non-chlorine bleach (4:1). Wait 45 minutes, rinse with cold water and throw the garment in the washing machine using a bit of the same bleach.
For stains involving blood, act immediately by pouring regular hydrogen peroxide directly on the blood. Rinse under a cold tap and repeat this process until the stain has faded. Then send the garment through a cycle in the washing machine.
Grass stains can be quickly dealt with by using a spray on, pre-wash stain remover and then throwing it in the washing machine.
