Best Uses For Bleach And Ammonia

Bleach and Ammonia are common household cleaning products. Both have many uses. Let's start with bleach. In the bathroom, a 50/50 solution of bleach and water can be used to brighten up that dingy looking tile grout.

  • Apply the mixture and leave it for 15 minutes before scrubbing with clean brush and then rinsing.

  • Pouring straight bleach onto weeds is a good way to kill them.

  • Counter tops can be cleaned of bacteria by mixing a teaspoon of bleach to two quarts of water.

  • Sanitize those toys the two-year old just drooled all over by soaking them in a quarter cup of bleach, a teaspoon of soap and a bucket of water. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.

  • Ammonia is used especially in the cleaning of porcelain, glassware and stainless steel as it leaves behind virtually no residue or streaks.

  • Ammonia is also used to soak items that have grime caked on them like ovens, for example.

  • Ammonia is also excellent for stains like those from pen ink, food or even blood. Carpet stains can also be eliminated with Ammonia as can pet stains and stains on upholstery.

  • Important note: never combine bleach and ammonia. This forms a toxic gas that can be fatal if inhaled.
